Pronnunciation guide:

a - as in balm
e - as in set
i   - as in see
o - as in soap
u - as in boom
' is the 'okina, a glottal stop as in oh-oh
Also, you will see a '-' macron placed of vowels to lenghten the vowel sound. We don't use it here because it can only be shown using a special fond which most internet users don't have.

a hui hou - bye, 'until we meet again'
ahu - altar
akua - diety
ahupua'a - land division in old Hawai'i, stretching from the mountains to the sea
'aina - land, earth, 'that which feeds us'
akamai -  clever, smart
ali'i - chief, leader in old Hawai'i
aloha - hello, love, 'breath of life'
'aumakua - ancestor
hale - house, building, instituition, lodge, hall
hana - job, work
honua - world
ha'ole - term used for Caucasians
haumana -  student, pupil

heiau - shrine, temple, place of worship

ho'omaluhiai - to bring about peace
ho'oponopno - to set things right; old Hawaiian method to settle disputes

hui - group, meeting
kahu - priest, minister
kai - sea water

kanikapila - music jam session
kanaka maoli - native Hawaiian
kane - man
keiki - child
kokua -  help, aid, assistance
kumu - teacher
kupuna - person of wisdom and knowlegde
la'au - tree
lanai - balcony

maka'ainana - 'eyes of the land', commoners, the working people of old Hawai'i
makai -  sea side, towards the sea

mauka - mountain side, towards the mountains
nui - big, a lot
oha - life
'ohana - family, relative, kin group. From 'oha, the root or corm of the kalo.
'olelo - language
ono - delicious
pau - finished
pohaku - stone, rock
pono - 'ok', righteousness
pu'a - flower
wahine - woman
wai - fresh water
