Since 1979, Hoa 'Aina O Makaha has centered its focus on supporting family, community self-reliance and peace making on the Wai'anae Coast. "The Farm", as it is known by community residents, is a place where dreams have become reality by developing a barren piece of land into an educational center. Together with the children of our community Hoa 'Aina helps to rediscover Hawaiian culture, love for the land, and  love for each other and the world. Our programs  include farming, Hawaiiana, alternative energy, water management, and a Peace Center to share values and experiences. Tour the farm online through the photo album .

Hoa 'Aina O Makaha (Land Shared In Friendship) is located on the Wai'anae Coast, leeward or west side of the island of O'ahu and is situated on five acres of land leased from the Roman Catholic Diocese of Honolulu and adjacent to Makaha Elementary School.

For more information on the background of the farm, please go to history . On March 3, 2001, Hoa 'Aina O Makaha celebrated her 20th Anniversary by launching a book entitled, "The Love Was Already There ". The book contains 20 years of growth experienced by Hoa 'Aina O Makaha.

In 1992, Hoa 'Aina O Makaha became a registered 501 (C)(3) non-profit organization and entered into a 25 year lease with the Roman Catholic Church of the Honolulu Diocese as stewards of the land.
